Monetary Sovereignty – Mitchell

The most important problems in economics involve the excessive income/wealth/power Gaps between the have-mores and the have-less.
Wide Gaps negatively affect poverty, health and longevity, education, housing, law and crime, war, leadership, ownership, bigotry, supply and demand, taxation, GDP, international relations, scientific advancement, the environment, human motivation and well-being, and virtually every other issue in economics.
Implementation of The Ten Steps To Prosperity can narrow the Gaps:

Ten Steps To Prosperity:
1. ELIMINATE FICA (Ten Reasons to Eliminate FICA )
Although the article lists 10 reasons to eliminate FICA, there are two fundamental reasons:
*FICA is the most regressive tax in American history, widening the Gap by punishing the low and middle-income groups, while leaving the rich untouched, and
*The federal government, being Monetarily Sovereign, neither needs nor uses FICA to support Social Security and Medicare.
This article addresses the questions:
*Does the economy benefit when the rich can afford better health care than can the rest of Americans?
*Aside from improved health care, what are the other economic effects of “Medicare for everyone?”
*How much would it cost taxpayers?
*Who opposes it?”
3. PROVIDE A MONTHLY ECONOMIC BONUS TO EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD IN AMERICA (similar to Social Security for All) (The JG (Jobs Guarantee) vs the GI (Guaranteed Income) vs the EB (Economic Bonus) ) Or institute a reverse income tax ( ).
This article is the fifth in a series about direct financial assistance to Americans:
Why Modern Monetary Theory’s Employer of Last Resort is a bad idea. Sunday, Jan 1 2012
MMT’s Job Guarantee (JG) — “Another crazy, rightwing, Austrian nutjob?” Thursday, Jan 12 2012
Why Modern Monetary Theory’s Jobs Guarantee is like the EU’s euro: A beloved solution to the wrong problem. Tuesday, May 29 2012
“You can’t fire me. I’m on JG” Saturday, Jun 2 2012
Economic growth should include the “bottom” 99.9%, not just the .1%, the only question being, how best to accomplish that. Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) favors giving everyone a job. Monetary Sovereignty (MS) favors giving everyone money. The five articles describe the pros and cons of each approach.
4. FREE EDUCATION (INCLUDING POST-GRAD) FOR EVERYONE Five reasons why we should eliminate school loans
Monetarily non-sovereign State and local governments, despite their limited finances, support grades K-12. That level of education may have been sufficient for a largely agrarian economy, but not for our currently more technical economy that demands greater numbers of highly educated workers.
Because state and local funding is so limited, grades K-12 receive short shrift, especially those schools whose populations come from the lowest economic groups. And college is too costly for most families.
An educated populace benefits a nation, and benefitting the nation is the purpose of the federal government, which has the unlimited ability to pay for K-16 and beyond.
Even were schooling to be completely free, many young people cannot attend, because they and their families cannot afford to support non-workers. In a foundering boat, everyone needs to bail, and no one can take time off for study.
If a young person’s “job” is to learn and be productive, he/she should be paid to do that job, especially since that job is one of America’s most important.
Businesses are dollar-transferring machines. They transfer dollars from customers to employees, suppliers, shareholders and the federal government (the later having no use for those dollars). Any tax on businesses reduces the amount going to employees, suppliers and shareholders, which diminishes the economy. Ultimately, all business taxes reduce your personal income.
7. INCREASE THE STANDARD INCOME TAX DEDUCTION, ANNUALLY. (Refer to this.) Federal taxes punish taxpayers and harm the economy. The federal government has no need for those punishing and harmful tax dollars. There are several ways to reduce taxes, and we should evaluate and choose the most progressive approaches.
Cutting FICA and business taxes would be a good early step, as both dramatically affect the 99%. Annual increases in the standard income tax deduction, and a reverse income tax also would provide benefits from the bottom up. Both would narrow the Gap.
There was a time when I argued against increasing anyone’s federal taxes. After all, the federal government has no need for tax dollars, and all taxes reduce Gross Domestic Product, thereby negatively affecting the entire economy, including the 99.9%.
But I have come to realize that narrowing the Gap requires trimming the top. It simply would not be possible to provide the 99.9% with enough benefits to narrow the Gap in any meaningful way. Bill Gates reportedly owns $70 billion. To get to that level, he must have been earning $10 billion a year. Pick any acceptable Gap (1000 to 1?), and the lowest paid American would have to receive $10 million a year. Unreasonable.
9. FEDERAL OWNERSHIP OF ALL BANKS (Click The end of private banking and How should America decide “who-gets-money”?)
Banks have created all the dollars that exist. Even dollars created at the direction of the federal government, actually come into being when banks increase the numbers in checking accounts. This gives the banks enormous financial power, and as we all know, power corrupts — especially when multiplied by a profit motive.
Although the federal government also is powerful and corrupted, it does not suffer from a profit motive, the world’s most corrupting influence.
10. INCREASE FEDERAL SPENDING ON THE MYRIAD INITIATIVES THAT BENEFIT AMERICA’S 99.9% (Federal agencies)Browse the agencies. See how many agencies benefit the lower- and middle-income/wealth/ power groups, by adding dollars to the economy and/or by actions more beneficial to the 99.9% than to the .1%.
Save this reference as your primer to current economics. Sadly, much of the material is not being taught in American schools, which is all the more reason for you to use it.
The Ten Steps will grow the economy, and narrow the income/wealth/power Gap between the rich and you.

CRIMINAL JOURNALISM 101 ! (los angeles)

Subject: Re: NBC Universal Archives: , Los Angeles ,Through the Decades; 36 years and STILL NO CLOSURE !

My true story; Expose the Media's dirty Little Secret !

I recently heard a TV news , reporter state, "We must be very careful what we say about people or we can be sued."This is the Media's mantra and it is BS!

The Media routinely and casually publish and broadcast unsubstantiated accusations about innocent "suspects" (WHOM THE MEDIA CREATES! ) which does irreparable harm to them and their families BECAUSE LAWSUITS AGAINST THE MEDIA ARE TOO EXPENSIVE AND TIME CONSUMING FOR VICTIMS OF MEDIA ABUSE TO PURSUE. My "WINNING" lawsuit against ABC TV News took 10 years and cost me AND MY FAMILY $35,000 and THE DAY BEFORE MY LIBEL, DEFAMATION AND SLANDER TRIAL WAS TO BEGIN, ABC'S army of high-priced lawyers informed us that if we did not accept their meager settlement NOW , (only 1/10 of the amount we sued for) THEY WOULD APPEAL AND DRAG OUT THE TRIAL ANOTHER TEN YEARS! KNOWING , I COULD NOT AFFORD TO FIGHT THE MEDIA LEGALLY any longer, I TOOK THEIR SETTLEMENT VOWING TO GET A NO-NAME LAW passed that would protect the public from MEDIA ABUSE. I actually lost $$$ after my lawyer took his fee! The definition of a criminal is one who KNOWINGLY harms an innocent person for profit or personal gain; THAT IS WHAT THE NEWS MEDIA and Mike Taibbi DID TO ME AND CONTINUE to ruin peoples' lives for $$$ and promotions !

The Media bosses know they can use FALSE ACCUSATIONS to increase ratings and profits ( one point in ratings =one million dollars profit for TV networks!) with impunity because most VICTIMS OF MEDIA ABUSE cannot afford to sue them. THIS IS CRIMINAL and life is tough enough without your career, reputation and future being ruined because a scamming reporter wanted a promotion and his bosses more PROFITS!
Media Abuse MUST be outlawed and THE PUBLIC protected NOW with a "NO-NAME UNTIL LEGALLY CHARGED WITH A CRIME LAW" .

The Police are eager to provide these UNVERIFIED accusations to THE MEDIA to make themselves look good and the TV networks and newspapers repeat them without investigation to increase ratings and make more $$$.The more sensational; the more profits!

Everyone PROFITS except the innocent, "DISPOSABLE SUSPECTS" and their families who must endure and suffer YEARS of irreparable harm to their reputations, careers and lives ( TAIBBI'S LIES THAT I WAS THE HILLSIDE STRANGLER KILLED MY MOTHER!) while the ambitious, UNETHICAL,"UN-investigative REPORTERS" get pay raises and promotions!

WALTER CRONKITE (like hundreds of other" Investigative" reporters) repeated the harmful, false accusations on National TV that implied I was the "HILLSIDE STRANGLER" WITHOUT checking the facts! They created "the most hated man in America" whom the LAPD told to leave Los Angeles because vigilantes were looking for ME!

No reporter EVER contacted me for my side of the story. They just read the script the Network gave them! My family and friends tried calling the News stations to give them the FACTS but nobody was interested in the truth.

Boston's WCVB "INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER" Mike Taibbi, (now with NBC News) first broadcast these sensational accusations without verifying them. A couple of phone calls would of proved his jailhouse informer was a liar when he stated "He and I were boyhood friends who grew up together." FACT; I am 10 years older than this career criminal and never lived in the same city as him! But why ruin a good scoop with the truth? I HAD NEVER BEEN ARRESTED BEFORE AND SHOULD OF BEEN GIVEN THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT OVER THIS 'PATHOLOGICAL LIAR" AS THE BOSTON POLICE CALLED HIM!

NOBODY BOTHERED TO SUBSTANTIATE THE ACCUSATIONS MADE AGAINST ME BY TAIBBI'S JAILHOUSE INFORMER. Hundreds of "investigative" reporters are encouraged TODAY by their Corporate CEO's to broadcast and print unsubstantiated ,accusations of ****, murder, assault etc. because there is NO LAW against it and slim chance of a Libel Lawsuit . THIS PROFITABLE /CRIMINAL PRACTICE OF MEDIA ABUSE MUST STOP NOW! I have been trying for 36 years to get a NO-NAME UNTIL LEGALLY CHARGED LAW passed somewhere in the US but the POWERFUL media lobby always opposes it and prevents a fair law that would protect innocent people from the irreparable harm of MEDIA ABU$E;

Sometimes the enormity of the injustice breeds normalcy and acceptance, precluding comprehension, thus prosecution of the crime. However the intent is still criminal; harming innocent people for $$$/profits !
The Media portrays itself as a benevolent, public service and revealing famous and revered, well coiffed, smiling, broadcasters as criminals (intentional or not) is a monumental task of cognitive, deduction for society to comprehend; but it is "what it is", the TRUTH and WRONG ; Media Abuse must STOP NOW!

ps. There is a lot more to my story; betrayal by F. LEE Bailey's law firm and the LAPD's refusal to investigate the informer's older brother, a notorious women beater, Sam Shamshak, who was rumored to have killed prostitutes.

I can send my complete, true story to you if you want.

SPLC's California "Patriot" group list, or: Crying Wolf Makes Everyone a Wolf

SoCal Martial Law Alerts

Lucky for you and me, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a self-proclaimed "non-profit" civil rights organization "fighting hate and bigotry," has decided to keep it's nefarious eye on what it considers to be (gasp) "Patriot" groups. Included in this year's list are a rather benign assortment of organizations that the SPLC considers to be on the "radical right." (Notably absent is a similar treatment of the "radical left.") What's most disturbing, though, is the SPLC's sloppy tendency to lump all of its so-called "Hate" groups together with "Patriots," "tea parties" and anyone even vaguely leaning toward the right side of the false left-right paradigm (see: Rage on the Right).

Talk about demonization by association.

But before we go into specifics, let us study the SPLC's 501(c)3 "non-profit" status for a moment, shall we?

Check out the SPLC's "Assets" and "Income" columns on

Just scroll down, it's not hard to find the SPLC's numbers -- they fairly leap off the page at you, they are so large. It seems "non-profits" are quite the profitable business to be in these days, because, as you can see, the SPLC has "Assets" and "Income" into the hundreds of millions of dollars. That's right: Hundreds of millions of dollars.

Southern Poverty Law Center's "Assets" and "Income" as of March 5, 2010. (Source:

That's one heck of a lot of 10 and 25 dollar donations ... Oh, but wait a minute. When you click on MelissaData's SPLC link:

You find a notation indicating that the SPLC is an:

"Organization which receives a substantial part of its support from a governmental unit or the general public." (emphasis added)

Hmm. Where do you suppose those hundreds of millions of dollars came from? The brokeback "general public," or some flush "governmental unit?"

You decide.

With that in mind, let us return now to the SPLC's dubious need to track all the nation's "Patriot" groups all the time. Here's what the SPLC has to say about them:

"Patriot groups define themselves as opposed to the "New World Order," engage in groundless conspiracy theorizing, or advocate or adhere to extreme antigovernment [sic] doctrines ... The list was compiled from field reports, Patriot publications, the Internet, law enforcement sources and news reports."

Since the SPLC's "Patriot" group list for California includes peaceful groups such as: the John Birch Society, Oath Keepers and We Are Change (Northern California only; sorry SoCal, apparently you're not "radical" enough), one has to wonder what all the fuss and bother is about, especially when the SPLC admits that:

"Listing here does not imply that the groups themselves advocate or engage in violence or other criminal activities, or are racist."

Maybe the SPLC hopes to demonize such groups by the mere act of listing them? (Hey, they've got to spend that hundred mil somehow ... And how are they going to keep the funds flowing if they don't grow their lists by leaps and bounds year after year? There must be a constant threat / a continual boogey man, or they lose their reason for being.)

But such a "Grimm" strategy (pun intended) is bound to backfire as more and more innocuous groups find themselves on the SPLC's ever-growing list. Uh oh. It might even one day become a "badge of honor" to "make the list." And maybe it already has, as some -- such as Frank Falcon of We Are Change San Francisco -- so eloquently point out:

"Congratulations to all the We Are Changers. We Are Change is now on the Southern Poverty Law Center's "list" of Patriot groups, along with the Oath Keepers and a number of other groups of people that (Gasp!) care about America. I'm glad to stand with all of you as a believer in justice and our Constitution."

Because when you continually cry demon, SPLC, it won't be long before everyone discerns who the real demon is.

Successful Economics
The next link discusses the criteria for a successful economic system and proposes that the Mondragon system is among the best proven successes, while the similar ESOPs (Employee Stock Ownership Plans) are also very successful. The website has other info on Mondragon etc too.

Job Guarantee
The next article link discusses MMT's (Modern Money Theory's) Job Guarantee program, which would permit local non-profits and members of the community and the unemployed to make grant proposals for any government to pay non-profits to hire the unemployed to do local work requested by the community.

I also read on the MMT website that the Job Guarantee (JG) program would work with any govt, even local govt. I had previously thought that it should be possible for any city or county govt, which are mostly all corporations, to include similar Job Guarantees in its bylaws or constitution. But, after reading about MMT's JG idea, I thought that might be better to try first. If it were successful, the local govt might be persuaded to write it into the bylaws.

National Debt = Public Assets
MMT also says the national debt is not a problem now or in the future, since govt debt is assets for the non-govt sectors. Economist Michael Hudson pointed out that the economy did poorly under Clinton, when the national debt was greatly reduced, and that Germany's hyperinflation period was not due to internal problems of printing money, but to external regulation of Germany's economy.

Weekly or Monthly Chat Room
I created a chat room here:

Please say what day/s and time/s are best for you for weekly or monthly chats.

How to Organize our Consulting Group

I started by putting out messages on the Craigslist Nonprofit forum.

I suggest that others interested contact others who may be interested, if you like.

I also suggest joining Unity in Diversity at

I hope to keep this updated and to reorganize it.

Our Purpose

Starting Nonprofit Govt Consulting Group < lkindr > 10/06 08:51

Forming a group of advisers to local governments. Advisers should know "Modern Money Theory" basics, including the Job Guarantee, which guarantee local governments can provide their residents via non-profit organizations. Non-profits would discuss with local people, including the unemployed, to determine what jobs are most needed or wanted, then write grant proposals to local govt and the govt would then fund those jobs via the non-profits.

It should be possible for any city or county govt, which are mostly all corporations, to include Job Guarantees in its bylaws or constitution. But they are more likely to want to do that after giving the above method a try first.

Group will also advise how to reduce violent crime and theft, improve ecology, reduce wasteful energy consumption, improve education and human relationships, reduce or end abusive taxes, beautify the community, counter desertification, improve science and health care etc.

We can have introductions in the area below.
